My Indoor Oasis
I sometimes really dislike this time of year. The daylight is short, the temperatures are cold, the wind is biting, and my temper is short. I much prefer the longer, warmer days of summer. The house-bound days of winter can be quite a struggle for an outdoor-loving but easily-chilled gal like me.
In an effort to make the winter months as comfortable as possible, I do my best to create an indoor oasis to whether away the cold weather. Scented candles and a roaring fireplace; board games and an overstuffed reading chair; blankets and cuddly lap pets all play a part in providing a welcoming interior. I bring the outside in as much as possible.
I spend a lot of time in my living room, so it makes sense that I outfit that area with rustic furniture and cozy accessories. But my bedroom is also a part of the house that cannot be ignored. This year I found and purchased Oak Forest Timber Frame Panel Bed with a beautiful iron oak forest cutout built into the headboard. It is my favorite furniture investment to date and I lounge unashamedly in its rustic embrace well into the late morning hours of weekend days. If my remote control and coffee maker are within arm’s reach, I am a really happy girl.
In fact, now that I have this bed, maybe I will become more a fan of winter.
Or maybe not.
But I’m definitely a fan of my beautiful barnwood bed and the indoor oasis it provides for me!
