  • Bedroom Beauty in Barn Wood

Beautiful rustic beds? We make plenty of them but for something a bit different, take a look at our Mossy Oak Natchez Trace Reclaimed Chiffonier. The ideal solution for when you need bedroom storage but want to keep things neat and relatively modest, but still gorgeous stylish and eye-catching.

    A touch of the exotic

Anybody can design a wardrobe, but combining a hanging section, various drawers and a rustic aesthetic takes extra skill, especially when the material being used will be reclaimed timber. Partnering with our friends from Mossy Oak, we are proud to be able to offer this amazing reclaimed wood dresser that draws on barn wood chest imagery.

No barn wood chifferobe would be complete without piquant little finishing touches that transform what could have been a perfectly charming Mossy Oak dresser into a piece of statement furniture that can transform the entire aesthetic of a bedroom. In the case of this lovely design, forged metal strap handles and the naturally gorgeous wood being used make all the difference.

Bringing out the beauty of barn wood

We could have gone a few ways with our Mossy Oak chest. For example, we could have decided to offer different color finishes, but instead, we wanted to allow the organic beauty of the timber speak for itself. With this in mind, we don't try to remove any of the genuine patina or age marks and finish the entire design by hand, with just a clear finish. The result is a barnwood dresser that offers an impressive amount of storage potential and looks breath-taking.

    Storage solutions that work

The Mossy Oak chifferobe benefits from a variety of storage solutions all being brought together in one harmonious design. Of course, the wardrobe cabinet is key, with space for hanging trousers, jackets and dresses, but it's the variety of drawers that really offer organizational excellence.

A large base drawer is perfect for bulkier items, such as sweaters and sweatshirts, with the small side panel drawers being ideal for underwear, socks and other accessories. We believe that even the smallest of bedrooms could be made to feel exponentially larger and more organized with one of our chiffoniers in place and the top is a perfect bonus shelf as well.

Brimming with American heritage, practicality and beauty, the Mossy Oak armoire could be either the ideal finishing touch to an already rustic interior design scheme or a natural jumping off point in a re-design. As with all of our beautiful furniture items, shipping is free within the USA and you can rest easy wit the extra peace of mind that our limited lifetime warranty offers.

The storage you need, finished in a style you love that will last a lifetime. We don't think it gets any better than that!

  • A Modern Twist on Rustic Design

If you’ve been searching for a statement dining table that serves as so much more than just a gathering point for meals, then look no further. With its combination of sleek metal supports, rustic teak tree root detailing and smooth live edge top, our Twisted Trails Live Edge Dining Table will leave you breathless.

Delicious design to satisfy all tastes

Interior design trends seem to fall into two categories: modern or rustic. Within these are numerous sub-genres of course, but the overarching definitive element seems to be whether a home is being finished with contemporary or more traditional tropes in mind. Being such polar opposites, on the face of it, we wanted to create a modern rustic table that could bridge the gap and find a place in every home and we think we’ve done exactly that.

Standing proud on hand-forged black metal legs, this unique rustic dining table sets itself apart through artistic elements, most notably the incredible teak root slices that fill the frame voids and make way for a dramatic live edge wooden top. On paper, these elements shouldn’t come together as a harmonious and intriguing piece of furniture, but in reality, the blending of vision and craftsmanship is irresistible.

    The devil’s in the details

Let’s talk materials, because this live edge rustic dining table features some of the best that money can buy, despite the non-designer price tag.

Hand-forged metalwork might sound like a luxury and it is, but we want to guarantee the tightest tolerances and sturdiest finishes possible. Why take a chance with stock sheet metal when having something specifically created will allow for a far more bespoke and upmarket end result that will last a lifetime?

Next comes those extra special teak roots. What would be a waste product to some is reclaimed art in the making to us, allowing for a touch of sustainability to creep into your statement rustic dining table. By leaving the rest of the table legs so understated and simple, these decorative ends are given the spotlight and what a glorious job they make of setting up the entire design for the crowning glory – the black walnut plank live edge top.

Black walnut is a sumptuous wood that showcases rich warm tones, eye-catching grain patterns and flourishes with just a clear coat finish. Bold yet classic, it makes for a truly beautiful solid wood table and moreover, is perfectly suited to creating unforgettable rustic dining room furniture.

    American made with worldwide appeal

For all of our USA customers, complimentary shipping and the joy of buying a domestic product is included in your order, but we want to offer our gorgeous designs to the rest of the world as well. There’s no point in being selfish!

International shipping is available, with regular updates up until your contemporary rustic table is ready to leave our workshop. Please note that because we make each piece to order, we ask for around 6-8 weeks to complete, with shipping to follow.

  • Sheer Animal Magic

Striking the right balance between eye-catching style and timeless elegance can be difficult, but when it comes to rustic bedroom furniture that is guaranteed to elevate an interior space, the Barnwood Bear Silhouette Bed is hard to beat.

    Unique design touches

Not all beds are created equal and the Barnwood Bear Silhouette Bed is one of the most beloved that we offer. Combining the beauty and heritage feel of rustic weathered pine with iconic bear imagery creates a stunning hybrid of western and cabin aesthetics that elevate the overall design of any room the bed stands in. Truly, the bear scene rustic bed combination works so symbiotically that most other rustic bedroom furniture pales in comparison.

Starting at the foot of the bed frame, a solid barn door X design has been used to ground the piece in traditional charm, but it’s the detailed metal headboard that really catches the eye. Intricately carved, the metal gives way to a silhouette scene of a bear walking through pine trees, in the shadow of mountains and it works so well. Breaking up not only the heavy metal headboard but also adding extra character to the chunky wooden bed frame, the scene injects such rustic flair that little else is needed, except perhaps some charming flannel bedding. There is one more surprise, however.

Just when you think this rustic bed can’t get any better, you realize that it is a light up bear bed. That’s right – the headboard is illuminated and exudes an ambient amber glow, helping to amplify the silhouette scene even more.

    The American dream

Gorgeous design aside, there’s another reason why we can feel so proud of the Barnwood Bear Silhouette Bed – the fact that it is designed and made right here in the USA. Imbued with pride, as well as domestic artisan talent, you can sleep easy knowing that you are resting on a high quality product that supports both yourself and the economy.

Usually shipping in just over four to six weeks from the date of your order, time is taken to guarantee exemplar craftsmanship and attention to detail, so that when your bed arrives, it simply needs to be assembled and admired.

    Perfect for every home

Though a definite style statement, choosing a barn wood bed makes perfect sense, as the material can adapt to any interior color scheme and can be as dramatically rustic or understated as you choose. In the case of this bed, which comes complete with footboard, headboard, siderails and mattress support slats, subtle design isn’t an option, but it does afford you the opportunity to keep your wider bedroom design choices a little simpler, so as to let the bed really take center stage.

Of course, if you prefer to create an all-out rustic haven, you can accessorize further with other pieces from the Antler & Barnwood Bedroom Collection. Complementary bedside tables and unique lamps are just some of the additions that we heartily recommend, but the Barnwood Bear Silhouette Bed is beautiful enough to stand alone and still make an incredible impact. That’s why it is one of our all-time favorite pieces of rustic furniture that we offer and also why it’s sure to become one of yours as well.

  • Pine or Cedar? Choose the Right Wood for Your Bedroom!

Choosing Between Pine and Cedar Wood for the Bedroom

Pine and cedar are among two of the most popular choices when it comes to rustic furniture. But while both are considered to be “soft woods,” they each have their own unique properties and characteristics. When selecting bedroom furniture, this detail could impact your choice when deciding on the right kind of wood you want your rustic furniture to be made from.

Here’s a breakdown of what each of these woods brings to the table, so you can have a better idea of what kind of wood will work best in your home’s bedrooms.

    Why Choose Pine?

There are several members of the pine family, including the light-colored Parana and Lodgepole Pines, and milky white Eastern White Pine. All the varieties of pine are moderately strong and lightweight, but some are hardier than others. For this reason, Eastern White Pine and Parana Pine are the most common types of pine wood used to build furniture.

Pine wood is most recognized for its straight and uniform grain with the occasional brown knot. It can also be porous, so it does require sealing with a water-based or oil-based polyurethane in order to prevent the wood from absorbing any moisture.

As pine ages, it develops a nice patina, so the furniture you start off with will ultimately look slightly different the longer you own it. As far as cons go, because pine is a softwood, it can also be prone to dents, scratches, and nicks.

    Why Choose Cedar?

Cedar is best known for its rich aroma and for its ability to resist shrinking, swelling, rot, and insects. For these reasons, it is a common wood used to make outdoor furniture, decks, and fences. But it is equally at home inside your house in places like the bedroom.

The most common type of cedar used to make furniture is called clear cedar. This type of wood has a natural reddish-brown color that’s peppered with dark-toned knots. It also has the classic cedar aroma and can withstand fluctuations in temperatures and humidity.

Aromatic cedar is what is most often used to line drawers, closets, and cedar chests. This is ideal because of all the cedars, this one has the strongest scent, which helps repel moths and other pests. Because it can withstand high-moisture environments, aromatic cedar is what is commonly used in spas and saunas, too.

  • Why Reclaimed Wood Is the Sustainable Choice

Reclaimed Wood Is Best for Environmentally Conscious Shoppers

Purchasing new furniture is always difficult to do when you’re someone who is concerned about the environment. The thought of your old furniture wearing away in a landfill can be at odds with your intentions, and then there’s the environmental impact of your new furniture being manufactured.

Thankfully, you have other options available to you. Furniture made from reclaimed wood not only looks and feels great, but it is also the most sustainable choice you can make when it’s time to buy new furniture, or to replace your existing furniture. Here are five reasons why you should always choose reclaimed wood, and why it is ultimately the best furniture material around if you’re someone who cares about the environment.

    Wood Gets Better With Age

Wood is one of the few things in life, along with wine, that only gets better with age. For starters, reclaimed wood has colors and textures that are simply unavailable from virgin wood. Whether from a barn or another resource, every piece of reclaimed wood has a story to tell, and as a result, it has a rich complexity that you just can’t get from any other product.

    Breaks the Cycle of Waste

Since the Industrial Revolution, manufacturing processes have propelled us towards a “use-and-toss” society. Today, most things are poorly made and not intended to last for more than a couple of years. The result is the product gets too-quickly thrown away and replaced by a newer one. While happens in every industry, from electronics to furniture, it has fostered a cycle of waste that is already at monumental proportions.

By choosing to purchase reclaimed wood furniture for your home, you are breaking that cycle of waste. Instead of an old barn being destroyed and sent to the landfill, the wood is retained and used for other purposes.

    Reduced Manufacturing Processes

The manufacturing process not only produces a lot of waste, but it also produces a lot of carbon emissions, which are terrible for the planet’s atmosphere. On the other hand, there is no manufacturing process needed when you choose reclaimed wood for your funiture. The wood is simply cleaned up and used for a different purpose.

Choosing Reclaimed Wood Protects Living Wood

We need our forests in order for us to be able to breathe while living on this planet. Every acre that is torn down for industrial reasons puts our planet at risk, and every year the situation gets worse. By choosing furniture that is made from recycled wood, you are doing your part to help protect our living forests from being decimated.

Reclaimed Wood Furniture Can Last a Lifetime

Unlike contemporary furniture made from more modern materials, reclaimed wood furniture is often so durable it can last a lifetime, when handled with the proper care. The reason for this is because reclaimed wood is what is known as “old growth” wood. This type of wood is tightly packed, so it is more durable and stable than wood that is being forested today.

Old growth forests have been nearly decimated by humans, so choosing reclaimed wood will help protect the few forested areas we have left from being removed from the planet forever.

  • Barn Doors to Your Dinner Table From Start to Finish

The Complete Evolution of a Barn Door Becoming a Dining Room Table

Barnwood furniture is more popular now than ever, but have you ever thought about exactly what goes into transforming an old barn door into a stunning new dinner table for your dining room? Here, we look behind the scenes and share with you the process of using reclaimed barnwood to make a table.

    Finding the Right Wood

A barnwood table is built using aged barnwood that has been reclaimed during the tear-down process. When we are notified of a barn that is scheduled to be demolished, we send crews to the location to gather any wood that may be suitable for re-use. Barn doors are excellent sources of wood, as are rafters, floor joists, and framing. The collected wood is then loaded on a trailer and shipped directly to our workshop.

    Preparing the Wood for Cutting

Before the wood can be cut, it needs to be carefully de-nailed to ensure all the nails are removed. A metal detector is used to scan the wood to make sure no nails were missed.

    Cutting and Joining the Barnwood

A custom table order will include the width and length of the table top that’s needed. Each piece of wood is cut to size and then glued together and held tight by pipe clamps until the glue is fully dried.

The ends of the table are then mortised using a joiner. This ensures the finishing panels can be easily aligned for accurate placement. The legs or base gets attached next, and sanders are then used to clean up the wood in order to provide it with a smooth surface.

Once the sanding is complete and the dust is removed, a coating of urethane is applied to the wood.

Caring for Your Barnwood Dining Table

Barnwood is extremely durable, but there are some things you can do to help protect it from getting damaged. Here are some tips to maximize the longevity of your heirloom piece:

    • Keep it away from UV rays to prevent discoloration and warping
    • Keep the table away from heating and cooling vents to prevent shrinking or expanding
    • Use coasters to prevent moisture rings from forming
    • Set hot items on trivets or hot pads, and not directly on the wood
    • Keep your home at stable temperature and humidity levels in order to prevent drying, cracking, shrinking, and swelling
    • Clean the table regularly with a soft clean cloth
    • Apply a fresh coat of wax when needed

    table
doesn’t have to look like it should only exist in a log cabin. There are
several designs that can add a sophisticated
    touch
to your home while still employing the texture, warmth, and feel that
you can only get from wood. For many, this is one of the easiest and most

  • Caring for Your Wooden Patio Furniture This Winter

Wooden Patio Furniture Requires Proper Care During Winter Months

Wood is the best material for outdoor furniture because unlike plastic, it can last for many years if and when it is taken care of properly. This guide will help you learn the ins and outs of proper wooden patio furniture care, so you can enjoy your furniture next summer, and for many summers after that.

First, Which Type of Wood Is Your Patio Furniture Made From?

Outdoor furniture can be made from either hardwood or softwood. Hardwood is much more expensive than softwood, so softwood is the most common variety found in wooden outdoor furniture. Hardwood is only used in the most expensive luxury patio furniture.

Because softwood can absorb moisture, it needs to be cleaned well before it is stored for winter and a fresh coat of finish or paint should be applied at the start of the season. Unlike softwood, furniture made from hardwood can withstand the harsh winter elements, so it doesn’t need to be taken inside.

Wood Patio Furniture Needs To Be Cleaned

The best way to clean both hardwood and softwood outdoor furniture is to wash it using a clean cloth and warm, soapy water. You don’t want to use anything abrasive on softwood or it may scar the surface of the wood. A soft-bristled brush can be used on hardwood, however.

Once you have completed the process of washing the furniture, you only need to dry it off with a clean towel – remember, do not let the water stand on the furniture.

When a Simple Wash Is Not Enough for Your Wood Patio Furniture

Sometimes over the summer months, wooden furniture can take a real beating from the sun and seasonal elements. If your furniture is made from hardwood and it is looking gray and weathered with cracks or deep grooves, then you will need to take a different approach to cleaning it.

In this case, you should use a power washer to force the embedded dirt out of the grains. Make sure you test the power washer on a part of the furniture that isn’t seen, so you can ensure that it will do the job. You can add a touch of liquid dish detergent in the power washer’s water reservoir to help remove the dirt if necessary.

Let the wet furniture sit overnight, so it can dry gradually. When the wood is dry, use lightweight sandpaper to sand down the surface. Next, rinse the wood dust away with a hose and let the wet furniture sit again overnight. Once dry, apply a coating of hardwood oil to restore the furniture to its former beauty.

Store Your Wood Patio Furniture in a Dry Place

With your wooden patio furniture nice and clean, you will need to remove it and store it somewhere safe and dry over the winter, especially if it is made from softwood. When next spring rolls around, your furniture will be ready and waiting to see the sun again. Don’t forget to clean it again and apply a fresh coating of sealant. This way, it will stay protected all summer long.

Log Furniture Place Has All Your Patio Furniture Needs Covered

  • Custom Wood Table - 7 Things to Know Before

Don’t Design a Custom Wooden Dining Room Table Without Reading This First!

When you buy a wood table from Woodland Creek’s Log Furniture Place, you have the pleasure of knowing that your table is absolutely unique. This is because every table we make is composed of different pieces of wood, so the grain, color, and texture of the piece will be true to your table, and your table alone.

This applies whether you purchase a stock table or order a custom-designed piece. But before you order, there are some things you will need to know if you are planning to have a table custom-made. Here are seven things you will need to know to ensure the table you get is the table you ultimately want and need.

#1: The Size of Your Dining Table

Our tables are custom-made, so we can build them in practically any size you need. Knowing the size before you order is important because you need the table to fit in your dining room, where it needs to accommodate your guests comfortably. Here are some standard sizes and how many people those sizes can comfortably seat:

    • 42×60 – seats 6
    • 42×72 – seats 6-8
    • 42×84 – seats 8
    • 42×96 – seats 8-10
    • 42×108 – seats 10
    • 42×120 – seats 10-12

You can also choose to include a table leaf, which will allow you to expand the length of the table even more, accommodating more guests in the process.

#2: The Dining Room Table Style

Rustic wood tables can be either formal or casual. You should know what style you want for your dining room because style can affect the type of wood or stain that is used to finish it. For instance, darker stains are typically better suited for formal tables, while lighter or more natural stains will tend to give the table a more casual feel. A formal table should also not be as distressed as a casual table.

#3: Pedestal Base or Table Legs?

Traditional wood tables often stand on four legs, but a thicker and more pronounced pedestal base is also an option. The larger your table, the thicker your legs or pedestals will need to be, and you may even need multiple pedestals.

    #4: Wood Type

We use a variety of different wood to build each of our custom tables, so you will want to know what type of wood you prefer before you order. You can choose from Aspen, Cedar, Hickory, Black Walnut, Juniper, Pine, reclaimed barnwood, and more. Each has its own individual color, texture, and character.

    #5: Shape

What shape do you want your table to be? Common choices include rectangle, oval, round, octagon, and square. Or, you can choose a rustic slab tabletop, which retains the interesting shape of the tree that the wood came from.

    #6: Edge

The edge of the table is often overlooked, but it is one of your most important considerations because it can dramatically affect the overall look of the piece. The more common edge styles include round, square, and standard, but you can also choose a live edge, which is what you call it when the table features the natural beauty of the wood as its edge.

    #7: Seating

With a new table, it’s highly likely that you will need new seating, as well. So, do you want a traditional set of wood chairs, benches, or a combination of them?

Order a Custom Wood Table from Log Furniture Place Today

A custom wood table will last for decades, and it may even become a treasured family heirloom that gets passed down through the generations. • Achieving ‘Hygge’ in Your Rustic Home

Finding Comfort and Enjoyment Through ‘Hygge’

Denmark is consistently named one of the happiest countries on the planet, and it’s not an accident, either. The Danish people follow a concept called “hygge” (hoo-gah) that enables one to find comfort and enjoyment in the everyday, soothing things we find in life. These are almost always the inexpensive things and moments that we cherish most.

Winter is a particularly popular time to practice hygge because so much of it revolves around being warm, cozy, and comfortable. Sitting down in front of the fire with a hot cup of cocoa while wearing your favorite sweater and slippers is the perfect example. The feeling you get in this kind of moment is essentially what hygge is all about.

But, did you know that you can achieve throughout your entire home? Here are some tips to achieve hygge in your rustic home this winter.

    Turn the Bright Lights Off

Bright lights can be jarring to the eyes, so they naturally go against the feeling you are trying to achieve. Keep your bright overhead lights off unless you’re having dinner, and instead use warmer lights like table lamps, candles, and of course, the fireplace.

    DeClutter

It will be virtually impossible to achieve hygge in a room that is perpetually messy and disorganized. So, be sure and tidy your home up and put everything in its proper place. Further, you can take the opportunity to remove any items that do not bring you intense feelings of joy.

Surround Yourself With Things You Love

In hygge, you want to be surrounded by the things you love the most, but the concept of hygge doesn’t necessarily fit squarely with consumerism. This means that everything you surround yourself with needs to be meaningful to you and/or to tell a story.

Things like family heirlooms, gifts from loved ones, memorable vacation souvenirs, and other such personal items will help you get the feeling you’re going for. Remember, just because you own something doesn’t mean you love it – so take inventory of your possessions and keep only what serves you around.

    Feature Soft Textures

With hygge, you need to be cozy and comfortable in every room of this house, which means that soft textures work always best. Have plenty of pillows, blankets, throws, rugs, and other soft textured items at the ready, whether you’re in the living room or the bedroom.

    Bring the Outdoors Inside

A hygge home features plenty of natural materials, like wood, leather, and stone. In a rustic home, you will already be most of the way there – all you’ll have to do is to find additional ways to bring nature inside.

For instance, gather fallen pine tree limbs and make a wreath, collect fallen leaves and sticks and some stones to make a centerpiece. Find a handsome branch and prop it up in an empty corner – you’re only limited by your imagination.

Enjoy Meals Together With Loved Ones

Among the Danish, gathering family and friends around a large wooden table, sitting on wood chairs, and enjoying a big meal together is a hallmark of hygge. The wood table and chairs bring the natural element to the mix, while the meal and loved ones add the sense of warmth and comfort that is key to the concept. Dinner is a great time to put away the electronic devices, so you can focus on the act of eating together.
