Snowed In Strategy

As I type this post, we are facing the possibility of a historic blizzard in our area. Feet of snow, cold temperatures, howling winds…it will bring our nation’s capital to a grinding halt. Even public transportation has announced they are shutting down in the face of Winter Storm Jonas. Having grown up in the Midwest, I’m no stranger to snowstorms. I remember many snowed-in days during my youth. Those are fond memories; we spent many of those days playing games around a table together. In fact, I specifically remember spending hours around a Carrom game board, playing the ring game. My shooter finger would be bruised long before the snow stopped falling outside. So, during the monster storm that is predicted for this weekend, I’m planning to rewind back to my youth and spend time as a family gathered around a game table. Except, instead of a game board, our centerpiece is a Aspen Log Checkerboard Table with Stools built into our rustic table crafted out of Aspen wood. Our family of four plus one furkid may go a little stir crazy, being cooped up in close quarters together for several days, but we’re looking forward to it. There’s a certain excitement about a big storm…as long as the power stays on and the water lines don’t freeze. Bring on the blankets, movies, puzzles and board games! We’re ready!!
