The kiln dried aspen logs are full of knots, gnarls, and beetle marks and may be finished with a low gloss catalyzed lacquer finish which helps keep the natural look of the wood which will add a bit of color and depth to the furniture. There will be natural variations and differences in coloration, texture, appearance and even size from one piece to another. These variations along with checks, knots, burls, and elk rubbings add to the character of your piece making it truly a one of a kind piece of art!
