Hi Erin! Thank you very much for the review. Excellent question - The slabs of wood all vary in size. The larger/wider slabs don't need the bottom cross bar, while the smaller/thinner slabs do. We choose slabs that will really showcase the carving also. Please let us know if you have any other questions/comments!
It took a little bit longer than anticipated to receive the frames, but it was well worth the wait. I love the unique look of the of the bedframes. They fit in well at my cabin in the woods.
